
Smart Meter
This is a cooperation project between Taiwan Electric Power Corporation and Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI). The purpose is to promote new digital meters and in-home displays (IHD) in home spaces. In addition to collecting and analyzing electricity consumption data, this project which Taipower also hopes to promote a good electricity habit to users.
Role and Duty:
• Planning Function map, Information architecture and user flow according to the spec from ITRI.
• Define UI guideline and layout design.
• Working together with engineers to find out solutions of the compound issues arising from software and hardware integration, network transmission, human and operating environment generated during the development phase.

Smart meter, which will accurately report the electricity consumption and report data through the network. If a power outage occurs, the electric meter can send a report message at the moment of a power outage to improve the efficiency of inspection and repair.

The Features


1. Trends
IHD shows electricity consumption data with each time period by bar chart, users can avoid the peak time of electricity consumption by this trends diagram. It also keep the data for one year on local end and upload it to the Taipower company meter data management system (MDMS) simultaneously.
2. Devices
In addition to the total electricity consumption, users can also check the electricity consumption trends of various home appliances through the smart meter.




3. Comparison
The units of week, month, and summer month are used as classification to show the weekly average electricity consumption of this week, last week, and the same week of the previous month. It’s all based on the accumulated total average data.
4. Electricity Bill Reference
Referring to Taipower's bill calculation formula, IHD shows the unit fee corresponding to the electricity consumption with progress bar.
